The "Illustrated" Series
The Illustrated series of books are visual histories of the airplanes, and are all in color. Most are at leat 100 pages, covering the development of the type and an “in action” career. over 200 photos, illustrations, line drawings and many with first-person narratives of action.
All of the Illustrated titles are available on Amazon.com in both ebook and print versions. Several of them are available in hardcover versions.

The Lima Lima Flight Team
Aviation Art is my enduring passion, but flying is also a passion, and air show flying is passion elevated and defined in my flying experience. When I retired from air show flying after 18 years of traveling from coast-to-coast, border-to-border and beyond, I wrote this book to record the history of the world’s first 6-ship civilian aerobatic flight team. While the T-34 Mentor was still certified as aerobatic, we developed a routine that rivaled the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds in its formation aerobatic maneuvers. This is the chronicle of how we discovered that the T-34 was a very capable and reliable aerobatic formation airplane, how we organized and promoted a team which was made up of a very diverse group of pilots, and how the team survived personal tragedy and government-imposed restrictions on the T-34. Often, the travel to such destinations as Anchorage, Alaska, and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic provided as much adventure as the air shows themselves. The book is 8-1/2″ x 11″ 80 pages, softcover, and contains over 200 B&W and color photos and illustrations.

Aviation Art Book
There are two Aviation Art books. The first, published by Squadron/Signal, was limited in size and scope. It was restricted to art that I had produced for my Squadron/Signal books. The second, “Aviation Art of Lou Drendel, Vol II” is much larger in size and scope. It contains art that I have produced for my “Illustrated” series of books, paintings that were commissioned, and “other” art. (not aviation-related.)
