On a sub-zero January morning, we were aboard an American Airlines MD-80 out of O'Hare IAP, bound for Fort Myers. As we climbed out, the rising sun silhouetted the Chicago skyline as it rose over a frozen Lake Michigan. 24" x 18" acrylic on canvas panel $800 The Curtiss F9-C "Sparrowhawk" was designed for use as a reconnaissaince aircraft. It was known as "The Flying Trapeze" because it was launched from and recovered by the U.S. Navy Airships Akron and Macon. Six Sparrowhawks were built in 1932. Their service ended when the Macon crashed at sea with four Sparrowhawks aboard. 24"x18" acrylic on canvaspanel $800. KC-130F Blue Angels support aircraft, "Fat Albert". “Shamrock Special” was a B-17F-60-BO 42-29591 of the 401st BS, 91st BG. After being damaged in a ground collision with another Fort, it received a new rear fuselage. It carried 3 separate pin-ups, one on either side of the nose, and a more impressive lass, painted by Jack Gaffney, on the tail. It was returned to the USA in mid-1944. 20" x 10" acrylic on illustration board. $400

NASA F-104 high over Edwards AFB, California. Edwards is a prime testing site for experimental aircraft and is the home of the USAF Test Pilot School. The F-104 Starfighter was one of the leading edge Century Series of USAF fighters during the 1950s and 1960s. 24" x 18" acrylic on gessoed hardboard. $800

The rear cover illustration for by B-52 book shows the NB-52A launching the X-15. 24" x 18" acrylic on canvas panel. $800 Grumman OV-1 Mohawk 20" x 15" acrylic on board $275 On 10 September 1952, Captain Jesse Folmar and his wingman were attacked by a pair of MIG-15s. When the MIGs overshot, Folmar shot one down. He was then attacked by an additional four MIG-15s and subsequently shot down and rescued. 24" x 18" acrylic on canvaspanel $500 A-7E of VA-46  being armed for a Vietnam air strike. 20" x 16" acrylic on board. $500

A-10A 80-0186 of the 23rd TFW from England AFB, Louisiana was battle damaged on three separate occasions during Desert Storm. This shows the last, and most serious damage, caused by an IR SAM. It was repaired an returned to service each time. 20" x 10" acrylic on illustration board $325

Iraqi Freedom Apache.  20" x 15" acrylic on board. $700 “Our Gal Sal” was a B-17G-30-BO of the 338th BS, 100th BG out of Thorpe Abbots, UK. It flew over 100 combat missions, and carried the scoreboard on its starboard fuselage. The nose art and mission log were painted by ground crewman Frank Stevens. 20" x 8" acrylic on board. $400

"Combat Insertion" The MV-22 Osprey has become the most important combat transport for the Marines. It has seen extensive use in Afghanistan. 24" X 18" acrylic on canvaspanel. $800

 

 

“Holy Smokes” was B-17G 43-37523 of the 560th BS, 388th BS. It flew 84 combat missions, from 6 June 1944 to 2 May 1945.

One of the C-130s most important missions has become that of aerial firefighter. This has become especially important in this very active western forest fire season. 20"x16" acrylic on gessobord. $700

“Wabash Cannonball” was a B-17F-80-BO of the 322nd BS, 91st BG out of Bassingbourn, UK.  Famed nose artist Tony Starcer painted the Disney-esk nose art. It flew over 60 combat missions before being retired to CONUS as war-weary. It was later scrapped. acrylic on board 20" x 8" $400

MV-22 of the Marines during its initial combat deployment. 24" x 18" acrylic on canvaspanel. $700 Venice, Florida was the site of an active World War II training base of aspiring USAAF fighter pilots. Beginning in early 1943, the Army Air Forces trained P-39, P-40, P-47, and P-51 pilots at the Venice Army Air Base. This paintings reflect some of that experience.
